🧵🧪🌊 Today is #WorldOceansDay. My favourite parts of the ocean are those adjacent to Antarctica, Greenland and other locations where ice flows into the sea.
Photo shows the vessel Bark Europa, taken during the voyage to the Antarctic Peninsula I joined earlier this year.
From a quick look this appears to be a detailed study of how ice would fail under certain hypothetical conditions. 400 m high ice cliffs do not exist in nature (assuming this means 400 m in air/above water).

There is something magical about the juxtaposition of ice and the ocean. Unfortunately though, warming and changes in ocean circulation are increasingly turning this association into an unhealthy one for the ice.
Fair comment, but once upon a time good journalists would have checked multiple sources.
It's a very disappointing that this appears in a report that is claimed to be a product of a group of experts though.
