The Japanese emperor and empress have arrived in the Netherlands to stay in palace Het Loo with the Dutch king and queen for a state visit and, more importantly, to watch tonight's football match Japan - NL together. I love that.

Great experiment in Arnhem: the Dutch city has selected forty poor families and simply paid off their crippling debts. This is found to be cheaper than endlessly trying to help them crawl out of it themselves, a big net gain for society.
