This sounds like good progress. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Another year over... always a quiet month as few waterbirds nest in this part of the estuary, but 120 non-breeding Oystercatchers roosted. Not many Herring Gulls, but it was a mid-morning count and the Conwy Quay chippy hadn't opened. I've added a key question to your form @webs-gsmp.bsky.social 😉

Nightjars make partial recovery and Dartford Warblers hold their own in Wales, say Heathland Bird Survey organisers. Headlines from @btobirds.bsky.social and @rspbscience.bsky.social, plus recent sightings in #NorthWales, in @northwaleslive.bsky.social BirdNotes www.birdnotes.wales/blog/three-c...
Eradication of Rats (and other invasive non-native predators of eggs and chicks) on islands can play a big role in seabird recovery. Ensuring they don't get there in the first place is essential too, and far cheaper. It places a big onus on island managers for whom sustaining funding is a challenge

Nationwide survey finds heathland birds are making a strong comeback
Threatened upland birds including Eurasian Curlew, European Golden Plover, Black Grouse and Common Snipe are already benefitting from a major peatland-restoration project at Y Migneint in Eryri National Park:
From the extensive collection of awful photos: This colour ringed kittiwake was seen this afternoon in one of the Isle of May monitoring plots. Not a bird caught here but ringed last July on Puffin Island, Anglesey. Presumably not yet of breeding age and prospecting various colonies
