“Conversion therapy is usually talk therapy, ergo it’s speech, ergo the government can’t ban it” is the most horseshit argument I’ve heard.

Between the conversion therapy ruling and the efforts to ban kids from the internet to “protect them” from “transgender influence,” we’re right back in a culture of violently enforced closeting. And the data around self-identifying as trans and queer already reflects this

closeting doesn't just suppress identity, it suppresses data. fewer people out means fewer people counted. and when they use that drop in self-ID as proof the "trend" reversed, that's not a coincidence. that's the point.
When you combine this case with Skrmetti, the Supreme Court has initiated a regime where states can ban medical care to affirm trans youth while states cannot ban efforts to engage in conversion therapy on trans youth. This court is such a joke.
And in so doing, Kagan and Sotomayor, without qualification, signed onto an opinion from Gorsuch that flatly and incorrectly stated that whether conversion therapy is a good idea and "subject to fierce debate" and argued that queerness may be considered a mental illness in the future.

The thing with the “transwomen are not banned from competing they can participate in the open and male categories” lines that makes my blood boil is it never considers the practicalities of where and who I’m forced to compete with nor does it even consider my safety! Thats why it’s a defacto ban!
