Tonight, February 17. IRL in Princeton Public Library, and livestream. It will be epic!
My new book is out in the UK and will come to the US in the fall. Grateful for this review. www.theguardian.com/books/2026/m...
I'm sure everyone who cares has seen this, but it was exciting for me and especially my teenagers to see a copy of my translation of the Odyssey in Zendaya's hand. Great that she supported a local independent book shop. www.ktvu.com/news/zendaya... www.sfgate.com/sf-culture/a...
Here's 15 minutes of an extraordinary new opera-in-progress based on (my version of) the Odyssey, composed by Tom Smail, libretto by Isabella Bywater - performed and discussed (with Alicia Stallings) at the American School of Classical Studies in Athens. www.ascsa.edu.gr/events/detai...
Homer wasn't actually an American Poet, but I have had a wonderful time doing a "literary seminar" on the Iliad for the Academy of American Poets, with insightful curation from Sophie Herron and Ry Cook. I'm grateful to all who participated. Hurrah for serious engagement with poetry! poets.org
I'm really looking forward to this production of my translation of Euripides' Bacchae, in San Francisco! bardtheatresf.com/whats-on#/pr...
I’ve previously been labeled mostly as “woman” (for the Odyssey) or “modern” (for my traditional metrical Iliad, sic) - so it’s nice to have a fresh epithet!
Nice write up about the translation here: www.sfchronicle.com/entertainmen...
