Things I learned today:
1. There’s really something called “Irish curls” and it’s not just a TikTok thing
2. Apparently there’s also something with the repellent name of “hair plopping”
3. My hair is both fine and dense.
4. Even stylists don’t believe I was white-blonde as a small child.
I cut my hair shorter in February and now it has texture. As I enter middle age I am having to learn things like kinds of hair mousse and what a diffuser is. The poor stylist I consulted today seemed baffled as I blinked in utter confusion. She might as well have been speaking ancient Greek.
In conclusion, Girl 101 is difficult, confusing, and complicated. Mad props to the trans women taking this on. Hopefully I’m not alone in being as confused by this as I was by trigonometry.
In an effort to avoid dusting and vacuuming this weekend, I have gone for a hike and spent time weeding at the synagogue. I have reached new procrastination levels.
It’s been a week of chasing people to get them to answer messages and I’m over it.
A massive article I spent most of last year working on just got a “revise and resubmit” with overwhelmingly positive feedback from a really important journal in my field!! *excited wiggling*
Facebook memories reminded me of this patron complaint I handled in 2019 while working public library reference. “Those men are sitting there and talking and it’s not even about books! They’re acting like this is just a cool place to hang out or something!” #librarylife
