Something Pokémon difficulty romhacks have taught me is that difficulty and torment are different axes and a lot of bad game design comes from conflating the two. The fast and furious sweatlording in VGC is as hard or harder than singles teams of six, but it’s less draining due to speed of play.
A recurring pattern with this war is Trump saying he will make it Bad Happen, people say it not Bad Happening immediately proves people were being hysterical about it not Only Good Happening, and then the Bad Happening occurring later anyway.
I need to emphasize that this was literally his job. He got paid by his subscribers to do it. A game which did that to a literal pro is essentially unplayable.
I saw a romhack on YouTube that took a professional Nuzlocker four months and five tries to beat where you have over 300 battles and have to start all over again if you lose even one and he literally broke down in tears when he beat it and like… I just don’t think Pokémon should make grown men cry.
I can mostly handle win fast, lose fast, get in the saddle fast within reason. (I said WITHIN REASON, FromSoft!) But drawing it out and then you have to start all over again when you’re 90% of
the way there is extremely stressful.
Gender affirming strikes.
“We don’t have to worry about an oil crisis because we have the strategic reserve!”
Cool. Very nice. Now let’s get out a pen and paper and calculate the amount of oil going in the system with the amount of consumption and…
That may be true. But it means we’re fighting the war to undo the war because the thing for which we are fighting the war we had before we started the war to get it. So you understand why an International Relations scholar would be experiencing an existential crisis.
