It honestly feels like a Pathologic that doesn't annoy some people on a fundamental level isn't really a Pathologic that committed to Pathologic, tbh. I like that it's finding new ways to be odd and weird when you already have expectations about how odd it's going to be.

One of my favourite things about ANH is that we somehow got a swamp monster sequence in a space station. It's really a fairy tale where our heroes go into a dungeon to rescue a princess, in an SF setting! There were so many random little things in it and it was so unpredictable yet structured.

Oh god it is exactly that thing. “Thing we arbitrarily deem old fashioned in ~modern times~ must be attacked and mocked constantly, only what we deem mainstream and new is allowed.” That attitude ruined so many industries.
So, the Dan Dare Kickstarter stole the design for the Yukikaze Mave from the anime/manga/book series Yukikaze. I am not sure who over there thought that stealing a design was a good idea, especially a particularly easy-to-identify design.
