Something has definitely shifted from the days of getting people fired for not being appropriately mournful.
One of my go-to moves with Mormon missionaries who come my door is to tell them I don’t discuss religion with gentiles and watch their brains short-circuit.
As this book details, the internal culture of MLMs function much like cults, cutting off alternative information that might come from outside and encouraging those inside the group to completely buy in and blame themselves or evil others if anything is going wrong for them. bsky.app/profile/rick...
Pretty sure "unplanned" often means "I don't think the women planning it are important"
This reminded me of how as a kid The Great Brain book series taught me that Mormons also use “gentile” to describe outsiders
Not my profession but: 12-hour shifts for anyone are insane and for healthcare people who have lives in their hands, doubly so. Everyone knows this. The guy who set up the 12-hour-system was blitzed on cocaine. No one wants a doc on hour 12+ treating them. And yet, here we are.
People are terrible at knowing and reporting consistently on their own lives, much less their opinions, and slight changes in question wording can make a huge difference in how they answer.
What a writer thinks ISN’T political is always a huge tell. Even something as straightforwardly man vs nature as To Build A Fire is about toxic masculinity—“Any man who was a man could travel alone.”

BREAKING Arizona's Gov. Katie Hobbs vetoes "Charlie Kirk Loop 202 Freeway." She has now vetoed both Charlie Kirk-related bills passed by GOP this session.
Just out: one of the most illuminating books I've read on how Trump happened. www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/715421...
I'm not sure what the armchair critics think they're accomplishing, but sure, if they want to lead some surprise mass protests against the administration, they should absolutely get out there and do that. I completely agree it would probably be more effective, so have at it!
in 1917 Simon Bamberger became the first non-Mormon Governor of Utah, while campaigning an irate Mormon said "I'll never vote for a damn gentile!" to which Bamberger said "as a Jew I have been called a great many things, but this is the first time I've been called a damn gentile" the crowd loved it
