Bad news for those UK universities who've just entered into partnerships with Microsoft to inject AI into everything...wait, I'm hearing that my university did that last week...oh.
We need leaders who can spell out what's happening clearly and with force.
X and Elon Musk has been a threat to public order for nearly two years. The government has taken no action.

fortune.com/2026/05/22/m... Those poor AI Agents will soon be made redundant by hyper-efficient flesh-and-blood workers. It's inevitable. Either you adopt real human labour, or you go extinct. In the future, the winners will be those who can appreciate the dignity of human labour. :)

Companies are racing to incentivize employees to use AI. But as some companies are finding, the more employees that use the technology, the heavier the bill.

Maybe my uni should have waited to discuss results of a pilot with their AI task force before just announcing the partnership as a fait accompli? Just spitballing. I probably think that because I'm not suitably qualified in the arcane leadership techniques of university management though🤷‍♂️.
What we're seeing in Belfast is not a protest, it's racist men claiming the monopoly on violence. We are only going to see more of it until our political leaders stop pandering to the far right.
A week ago, I noted that the government was spending nearly as much on supporting Universal Studios to set up a theme park as they were on directly funding university teaching. This announcement means that they are now going less on teaching. Astonishing decisions.
Update: it's only filthy foreigners we must worry about. This course adds being offensive to patronising & time-wasting. It appears to have been developed by NaCTSO & NPSA, so in addition to being a scourge against terrorists I now also think the government's experts are arseholes.

Workplace compulsory terrorism training is forcing me to watch a video of a shifty-looking middle-eastern man wandering through a hospital. It's making me pretty cross. Taking bets on whether there will be any mention of right-wing extremism in this course.

I used to think this government was merely indifferent to the damage being done to UK universities. Now I realise that the harms are intended.
