A plant pathogen effector suppresses an activated helper NLR via a host ENTH domainโcontaining protein, NbTOL9a.
So what happens if we remove all four copies of the NITRILASE receptor? Thanks to Anita (add) and Xi's effort, we now know that quad nit plants phenocopy the atg plants: they start undergoing cell death during viral infectionโ ๏ธ.

2) ๐ฌWe show that EDS1 is degraded by autophagy during Pst infection - most likely in the mesophyll ๐ฑ๐ฆ
Our model: autophagy recycles EDS1 during infection. Without this turnover, EDS1 accumulates (explaining elevated SA in atg5?!) but EDS1-dependent HR fails. ๐๐ฅ
