OMG. The editors @washingtonpost.com really just argued that the War on Poverty did not work because poverty had already declined due to economic growth since 1939. Have they really never heard of the New Deal?

The Radicalism of the American Revolution was the first book I read in graduate school. It made me so mad I considered dropping out, mostly because of the way he downplayed the contradiction of slavery. I've come to appreciate Wood's scholarship over time, even as I continued to disagree.
