Thrilled to announce that the Department of Microbiology at the University of Washington, School of Medicine is hiring at the Assistant Professor level (tenure-track)! The Pacific Northwest is an awesome place to live and do science ๐Ÿงช๐Ÿฆ . Join us! apply.interfolio.com/185622 Applications due 8/1.
We're kicking off our 2026 Interview Series with the 2026 Donald Metcalf Award Winner Ellen Rothenberg, PhD. She dives into her current work, reflects on her most notable discoveries, and offers helpful guidance to early career scientists. Watch now on iseh.org/Publications...
Hi Genetics/Comp-Bio community ๐Ÿ‘‹ Interested in mentoring a comp-bio research student in East Africa over the summer? Do you have any experience in bioinformatics, biostats, genome/RNA-seq analyses, ML, or metagenomics? We'd love to have you as a mentor in our new program! ๐Ÿงต (1/n)
Congrats, Mark!
Kuhn, @maxkrummel.bsky.social et al. demonstrate how local gene editing of cancer-associated fibroblasts alters their cell state and, subsequently, the cellular tumor microenvironment. rupress.org/jem/article/... ๐Ÿ“˜ Part of JEM #Cancer Collection: rupress.org/jem/collecti... #EACR2026

Interesting paper on mitochondrial control of cross-presentation in cDC1s: loss of Complex I impairs cross-presentation of cell-associated antigen and alters NAD+/NADH balance. Restoring NAD+/NADH rescues the phenotype, while correcting lipid peroxidation does not.

Congrats to Tristan & @maxkrummel.bsky.social for this herculean effort to immunoprofile 15 murine tumor models to identify conserved immune networks. An important resource for mapping what we can understand about human cancers from mouse systems. www.nature.com/articles/s41... #immunology #cancer

Studies of mouse dendritic cells show that mitochondrial complex I dysfunction can impair antigen cross-presentation, but can be restored by rebalancing redox homeostasis. Learn more in #ScienceImmunology: https://scim.ag/4usTmo2

In this Resource paper, Krummel and colleagues provide analysis of 15 commonly used syngeneic mouse tumor models and compare these to the diversity of human tumor microenvironments.
