Jane Yolen was one of America’s greatest authors. I highly recommend her urban fantasy “Briar Rose” which is a Holocaust story like no other. It is tiny jewel of a book about family & survival & stories and a fairy tale retelling that is without compare.

My mother, the inimitable Jane Yolen passed away this morning after a blessingly short fight with Alzheimer’s. She did not suffer, and went peacefully into the ether which, I am certain for her, will be filled with words of the most exquisite beauty and meaning.
