It’s the season of watermelon-eating dogs!
We are governed by morons.

I’ve made this point before that I think Chamberlain is a much more complex and complicated figure than reductive takes tend to be about him. No doubt about that.
But if you don’t mention the Czechs or Edvard Beneš in the same breath as suggesting a more nuanced take, that’s not good either!
Markwayne Mullin transforming paramilitary right-wingers in Belfast into Irish republicans, while relishing in race riots, is delicious and pernicious. On brand for this dope.

I write for my grandmother. Obviously.
Getting some very strange Chamberlain revisionism in here.
I think (1) it is true that the PM had a sincere fear of war and was motivated for peace (2) he was naive (bad) and threw the Czechs under the bus (unforgivable) (3) anyone who uses the phrase “peace in our time” is asking for this reply.

Oh, the grand old Duke of York
He had ten thousand men
He marched them up to the top of the hill
And he marched them down again
And when they were up, they were up
And when they were down, they were down
And when they were only half-way up
They were neither up nor down.

This is literally a George Costanza apology.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio extolled the virtues of the Ultimate Fighting Championship as being intrinsically American, likening its creation to putting the first man on the moon.
Kilmeade to an agreeing Markwayne Mullin: "In Belfast they're standing up because their leaders have let them down. They're trying to take their country back. They want to label them as racist. All they want to be is Irish. They want Ireland back. I see a lot of the same fights here."

He wasn’t as bad as he is made out to be. After that he was solid against Germ. and was in Churchill war cabinet when he became PM. Also, anyone in a position of power in Europe at that time lived through and somehow participated in WWI which was disastrous for Europe Most were in no rush for war
