i use gimp regularly and have to agree with this. I'm also going to say it's unusable for any actual drawing (i use clip studio paint for that), i can only really use it for photo editing. it hates every single tablet i've ever had also for opening PSDs i recommend photopea, but not as a PS replacer

i do actually think that private servers usually exist for a reason, usually accessibility and money. i think they're more popular in countries with fucked economies (throw a dart at south america, russia, etc.) so they're kind of an alternative to people who can't afford a sub, i don't mind that

i also think that RP private servers become popular because of a lack of support in retail. you'll notice they have loads of customization (usually stolen assets from sims tho). some tools are probably never going to happen (whole map builders on zones). it's something blizz needs to be better at
on a lighter note about private servers, i do think there's a mild "value" in keeping some around as sort of unofficial scientific testing grounds to see what players like. let them run for a little bit, see how a feature plays out. wouldn't be surprised if that's already what happens (classic)
