There was a nice display of noctilucent clouds last night. Here's the view from the North York Moors, overlooking Teesside at 23:11 UT. #NoctilucentClouds #Noctilucent #NLCs

A no-show for the noctilucent clouds for me last night. They appeared on European webcams so I thought there would be a good chance to see them from the UK. Not this time though. It sometimes happens that a display fades before it gets to us.

A timelapse of the noctilucent cloud forms from last night's display. The serene wave-like movement of these clouds is simply beautiful. #NoctilucentClouds #NLC #Astronomy

Finally dug out my NCP image from c1993. Clear shift in position of NCP between mine and yours. About 28 arcmin? Rotated mine and rescaled to match yours, with my stars roughly at starting position of yours. Also: SCP from 1987, with LMC (and a special guest...) near top.

Caught my first sighting of #NoctilucentClouds last night - quite faint and didn't last long but nice to see the season underway from North Yorkshire. #NLCs
9th June: Bright planets #Venus and #Jupiter are in conjunction this evening. Look low to the west-northwest from around 22:30 BST (21:30 UT). The pair are less than 2° apart and so should be viewable using a low power telescope or binoculars. An excellent photo opportunity. #Astronomy
Thirteen plaques will be unveiled across the UK to celebrate Beagle 2, the first British and European spacecraft to successfully land on another planet. #Astronomy #Spaceflight www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Beagle 2 reached the surface in 2003, but it was not known until 2015, a professor says.
