Fargo, ND F5 #Tornado – June 20, 1957
An F5 tornado struck northwest Fargo, damaging or destroying more than 1,300 homes. Ten people were killed, 103 were injured, and the event later became central to Ted Fujita’s research into the tornado life cycle.

Stratton-McCook, NE F4 #Tornado – June 15, 1990!
The multi-vortex tornado reached up to 1.5 miles wide and traveled 28 miles. Thirty-five rural homes were damaged or destroyed, with one injury and no fatalities.

The tornado traveled an estimated 25 miles through Maple Grove, Champlin, Anoka, and Cedar. It swept away homes, demolished a church and school, damaged or destroyed 340 homes, injured 222 people, & killed nine.

An F3 tornado struck southwest Lawrence, destroying 22 houses and damaging 175 homes in a mobile home park. One person was killed at a heavily damaged K-Mart, and 33 were injured.

The tornado moved southeast from Ankeny toward Runnells, killing two people in their homes and injuring at least 50. About 100 homes, a church, a drive-in restaurant, and a shopping center were destroyed.

Hidden by heavy rain and low clouds, the tornado tore through the southeastern part of the city near Jerome. Two people were killed, 50 were injured, and the storm ended the local myth that the city was tornado-proof.

The F3 tracked 23.6 miles across northeastern Nebraska. Farms, a school, and a church were destroyed or badly damaged. Bertha Nelson, 67, was killed southeast of Winside, and the CDNS documented one injury.
