A selection of the next generation at the poolside this morning. It's been a good year here for the Class of '26 - so far. #Birds #nature 🦉
Oh Mr Porter what shall we do? They privatised the railway and it ended in a stew...

Young Fiver sits at the entrance to the burrow, basking in the warmth of Frith and awaits the beginning of the evening silflay. #watershipdown
A wonderful cloud-nuanced sunset here in North Dorset currently. #Sunset #TheLongestDayWithinTouchingDistance
I sent my grandkids off on a search for Grass Vetchling (Lathyrus nissolia) in the garden - they don't appear here in my North Dorset clay meadow until we get into the middle of June. Result! - always a lovely flower to find - understated but one to contemplate & admire. @bsbibotany.bsky.social
Sunday book review: Tarka Revisited by @ianparsons.bsky.social Publisher: @pelagic.bsky.social Review: markavery.info/2026/06/14/s... Cover: the marvellous @rachelhillustrates.bsky.social 'I think this is Ian's best book, so far' #otter #rivers #devon #Tarka #pollution #dogs
The watcher in the hedge - a Little Owl owlet who has recently fledged & emerged into the light. This species loves to nest at the end of a long tunnel-like structure which is defendable against all-comers - important given it's small stature. #Owls #Ukbirds #raptors @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social
Fantastic to look out the kitchen window & see fledged #raptors waiting to be fed. Kestrels & Little Owls nested in the same tree & fledged within days of each other and now share the same fence line. Remember when the Jackdaws were trying to oust the owls? @emilyjoachim.bsky.social #birds 🦉 #owls
