One thing that occurred to me: journals' submission systems are doing a much better job than application portals (but still bad). At least I've never had problems uploading manuscripts because they were too big. Maybe we can just publish preprints and journals sell their services to university HR?
And what's up with "Please attach a list of your recent teaching activities!" and "Please list your recent teaching activities in the textbox below!", I understand that they might need to have a comparable format across applicants, but doing both is overkill and a huge waste of time for everyone...
