My experience at Bloomberg was exactly this: devs telling me that putting a button in some place is impossible, then insisting on implementing an animation system for feet on staircases (we made a spreadsheet product)

This is why I'm no longer a product manager.
Putting aside that no they won't, and no they're not, and this ignores basic physics and maintenance problems, one of the things that frustrate me with this BS is that these very theoretical centers are explicitly solar powered but the same assholes won't propose or support solar or wind on Earth
