Congratulations to Dr. Mariana Rocha Alvarez, a GSMI 2020 alumni, on defending her doctoral thesis in Neuroscience at Emory University!
Mari has contributed to the growth of Cientifico Latino by volunteering as a GSMI mentor, personal statement reviewer, and webinar facilitator.
Daniela started off as a GSMI 2019 scholar in our pilot year, went on to contribute to the growth of our mentorship programs, by co-leading our first-year graduate student mentorship program in 2024.
She has shown deep and impactful commitment to equity in the sciences and supporting first-year graduate students in a critical year of their graduate studies.
