Israeli flag carrier EL AL has signed an agreement with Starlink to bring high-speed satellite internet to its entire fleet. The rollout is expected to begin in 2027 and will cover approximately 50 aircraft (including the airline's Boeing 787s, Boeing 777s, and Boeing 737s). EL AL CEO Dina Ben Tal Ganancia described the partnership as a significant step forward for the airline.
United Airlines has unveiled a new patriotic aircraft livery to commemorate America's upcoming 250th anniversary while also marking a major milestone in its effort to recruit military aviators. The airline announced that its new "Stars and Stripes" special livery will take to the skies this summer aboard two US-built aircraft: a Boeing 787-10 and a Boeing 737-800. The announcement coincides with United's success in transitioning nearly 600 military pilots into airline careers since 2024 through its United Military Pilot Program.
Greetings from 35,000 feet! I'm flying from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Tampa International Airport (TPA) at the moment. This will be my last night in Tampa for the season as we head back to Chicago tomorrow. In travel news this week, Delta returned to Hong Kong, Frontier is coming back to Oakland, Marriott opened it's 10,000th hotel, United is opening a massive Dulles lounge, and much more.thebulkheadseat.com
In June 2024, I first wrote about a new partnership between Starbucks and Marriott Bonvoy®. The collaboration allows members of both rewards programs to earn bonus points and stars. Starting today, it’s time for another "Marriott Bonvoy® Week" at Starbucks and there is an additional opportunity to earn Marriott Bonvoy® points. The earnings cap has dropped once again from past ones with a measly 100 points possible for three purchases at Starbucks this week (of at least $2 each).
Star Alliance has quietly updated its alliance-wide lounge access policy, clarifying access rules for both international First Class passengers and Star Alliance Gold members. While most of the changes amount to housekeeping and clarification, one update stands out: United Airlines' Polaris® lounges are now officially classified as "ultra-premium exclusive lounges" and are excluded from standard Star Alliance lounge access benefits.
Back in March 2024, I wrote about United starting to offer mileage pooling (the ability to combine miles from family members and friends into one account for faster award earnings). While this was nothing new for airlines globally (JetBlue and Frontier Airlines have been doing this for some time and there are dozens of international carriers that also allow families to combine miles), United Airlines was the first of the big three in the US to allow families (and friends) this option.
While flying this week on Delta Air Lines, I noticed an interesting box appear after connecting to the in-flight Wi-Fi known as Delta Sync. It was for a promo that offered a complimentary 12-month subscription to Paramount+ Premium (this normally costs $139.99). The promo is limited to the first 50,000 SkyMiles members who redeem it. After connecting to the free Wi-Fi, click around to see if you are targeted.

After years of debate, negotiations, and lobbying from both airlines and passenger advocacy groups, European Union ambassadors have agreed on a final draft of updated Air Passenger Rights legislation that will replace and modernize key aspects of Regulation EC 261/2004. The agreement was approved by a majority of EU member states, with Spain and Latvia voting against the proposal (while Austria and Finland abstained).
Tripadvisor has agreed to sell TheFork, its European restaurant reservation and management platform, to American Express in an all-cash transaction valued at $700 million. The agreement, announced today, comes just months after Tripadvisor revealed in February 2026 that it was exploring strategic alternatives for TheFork. The sale marks the end of Tripadvisor's more than decade-long ownership of the restaurant booking platform and will allow the company to sharpen its focus on its growing Experiences business.
Most JetBlue passengers expect a comfortable space and complimentary snacks in Mint. What they don't expect is a fellow traveler running around in the ceiling above them. A recent viral video has captured the moment a passenger spotted a rat moving through the cabin ceiling of a JetBlue aircraft while the flight was in the air. The unexpected sighting quickly gained attention online, raising plenty of eyebrows and a few concerns about one of aviation's least welcome stowaways.
