You know this works in Dying Light as well. They break but not instantly, higher tiers last longer and weapons can be repaired multiple times before entropy kicks in
Weapon breaking is more a function of being in over your head. Scrounging is a desperation move compared to crafting

Captain, I think i'm getting my grove back. Will be finishing up last of my queue this week, so I am opening up 5 more slots for sketches!
Look at the density of visual gags & performer βbusinessβ in this MUPPET SHOW number, and all of it elevating the central musical performance. It also is comprised entirely of one-off characters for just this bit. But it radiates effortless fun in a way few modern Muppet bits do.
My shoes catching fire and turning to ash halfway through my day isn't purposeful friction. Leaving a wake of obliterated resources is a bad lesson to teach
