I used to tell everyone I was 5’10 and 3/4” just to annoy the dudes shorter than me claiming six feet.
But I got a more precise measurement during a physical a few years back and discovered I’m actually 5’11 and 1/4” so now I just say I’m 5-11.
Due to being male and my specific genetics I lived a life of privilege in the ‘90s and early ‘00s. There were always plenty of options in my size and things fit well off the rack. Vehicles of all types and where things were situated just fit.
That’s all changed. Some for the better; most not.

I don’t make the rules; I only abide by them.
Also: I’ve got a dad belly now, but I used to be the standard proportions that U.S. companies seemed to design towards—from height to waist to shoe size and experiencing a) the rise in vanity sizing and b) the shrinking of space allotted to individuals (esp. airplanes) has been eye opening.

And when I say “for the better” I mean for a wider variety of body types. For example, a lot of modern busses/light rail cars have better hand holds for standing passengers. Back in the day, there’s be a strap that was perfectly comfortable for me to hold and almost useless for everyone shorter.
