My local MP has been a FIERCE defender of the OSA and she's absolutely getting an earful from me soon about how little she clearly understands child online safety & how dangerous such measures like this are.

I was this kid way back when. I was much better in online communities, otherwise I'd have been forced to co-exist with people who liked to kick me in the nuts for laughs.
Lying
The kids on social media aren't toddlers slipping past a child gate, they're thinking talking walking creatures with opinions and desires and far more reasoning capacity than many want to imagine. So all the barriers you put in place just look like challenges to them. Challenges that they WILL beat.
Seriously, if I thought the parliamentary standards committee would actually do anything, I could report my own MP for breaching as many as 6 out of their 7 principles of public life.
That's how far down we are around here.
We're at the stage where the kindest explanation for why so much of my government seems intent on ill-conceived acts and bigoted rhetoric is that they're corrupt to the very core and indebted to malignant financial sources.

Pay creators. Reinvest in the creative industries. Pay fair tax back into creators’ economies. Follow guidelines on fair usage and copyright. Play fair.
It’s bigger than TV now. Make it behave like TV.
