Thousands of folks visit the fishing ponds at the @ifas.ufl.edu Fisheries & Aquatics Sciences facility on Millhopper Road each year.
That's where Katie Hagan, program director of Fishing For Success, engages with groups to share knowledge of fishing, marine organisms and so much more.
Welcome aboard Land Manager Cully Lord who will be overseeing @ufl.edu's newly acquired Hickory Sink Forest property off Parker Road in Gainesville.
Cully is a certified wildlife biologist and veteran land manager with more than 14 years of experience.
The statewide competition introduces students to practical applications of trigonometry used in the surveying and mapping industry, and pairs local surveyors with classrooms to showcase an exciting but often overlooked profession with promising math students.
He specializes in prescribed fire, ecological restoration, and administration.
Cully earned his bachelor's degree in wildlife ecology and conservation and his master's degree in forest resources and conservation from UF.
🌞 Sun Safety Tips for LAKEWATCH Volunteers
Florida summers are intense. Protect your skin on the water with broad‑spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen. Choose water‑resistant formulas, reapply every 2 hours, wear SPF lip balm, and apply 30 minutes before heading out. 🛡️🌊
SFFGS just doubled the size of its teaching/research/extension forest property by adding the 2,600-acre Hickory Sink property.
Combined with Austin Cary Forest campus, that's more than 5,000 acres to learn from.
A six-figure donation! We are so grateful to retired @utaustin.bsky.social Associate Research Scientist Thomas Atkinson, Ph.D.
