Today's Government Accountability Office report on ICE's Camp East Montana is scandalous:
- Evidence of a homicide was destroyed or went missing
- Detainees with HIV and diabetes were not given treatment plans
- Cells were filthy and only cleaned weekly
- A guard lost a loaded gun in the facility
Camp East Montana is the nation’s largest ICE detention facility, but its current medical provider has a yearslong paper trail of poor management and substandard medical care.

GEO became an avid fan of then-candidate Donald Trump after President Barack Obama’s Justice Department promised to stop approving new federal private prison contracts.
According to the report, "In January 2026, a contract security guard at Camp East Montana lost their loaded firearm at the facility." (!!!!)
"According to an ICE official, despite several searches of the facility, as of March 2026 the firearm had not been recovered." /2
The report found that ICE and the Army wasted over $18 MILLION at Camp East Montana by overpaying for a variety of services. /3
