Thanks for the shoutout! We’ve been discussing this internally, and since we already track similar metrics for other projects, it’s right in our wheelhouse. Is there a community call or a specific channel where we can explore this further?
Existing ENR viewers don’t give the level of detail that we wanted. Our ENR viewer offers a few quality of life improvements:
-> Provides Geo Information
-> Calculates the custody columns
-> Parses the attnets subscriptions
-> Maps the chain ID to human readable names
We crawled the Monero P2P network and here's what we found:
- 16,454 reachable nodes
- 81.6% flagged as spy nodes
- 80%+ running on a single cloud provider (Spruce Creek)
Monero's transaction privacy is strong but its P2P layer tells a different story.

This is the first step towards a self-service tool that will give Ethereum node operators critical information about their node’s operational health and behaviour.
Once the full service is out, you’ll be able to find out about: transport connection establishment success, list of protocols supported by the peer, RTT measurements from several locations, list of open ports and more.
Stay tuned!

Here's how big the improvement has been!
At ProbeLab, we just launched an ENR viewer! The tool allows to decode and inspect @ethereum.org Node Records. Inserting your ENR will give information about your node’s ID, public key, IP address, ports, and GeoIP, hosting provider. Check it out at: probelab.io/enr-viewer/.
