I know the colloquial usage of “preachy” but in church contexts we often distinguish between “preaching” and “teaching” and Star Trek can do both, and it can both well (uplifting / edifying / inspiring) and it can also at times do both poorly (clunky / didactic / cheesy / etc)
The “gay heterosexual” quadrant is entirely pre-1950s courtly dramas
