“With a liberal non-inferiority margin, amitriptyline is non-inferior…in reducing insomnia severity. Amitriptyline has more side effects & its effect on insomnia may diminish after tapering. [CBT-I]should remain first-line treatment for patients with medical comorbidity given its broader benefits.”

#CognitiveBehavioralTherapy (CBT-I) remains the most popular #insomniatreatment. In this clinical trial, researchers explore #amitriptyline as a potential #insomniatreatment for patients with #medicalcomorbidities.

Very well done, Lauren!
Thanks Dr Deborah Talmi @dtalmi.bsky.social @campsydept.bsky.social for such an interesting talk on Bayesian modelling of subjective pain experiences. Nice to see the integration of basic and clinical science. 🧪
New study maps a U‑shaped link between sleep duration and biological ageing with 6.4–7.8 hours emerging as the sweet spot for longevity. @alice-gregory.bsky.social @jakketamminen.bsky.social www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Grateful for the opportunity to talk about our lab's research on mental defeat in chronic pain this morning on BBC Radio 4. An exciting (if slightly nerve‑wracking!) way to wrap up the week.
Longitudinal network analysis of ESM data showed that spikes in mental defeat → ↑ attention to pain & perceived life impact → ↓ physical activity. MD involves threats to self & identity and can enter a self‑reinforcing loop. 🧪 Supports just‑in‑time interventions targeting mental defeat. (2/2)

Delighted to be invited to join the Research Exchange! Loved the OBHA & IBME tours and the thoughtful discussions that followed—huge thanks to Tamara, Andreia and @benosaka.bsky.social for organising.

Mental defeat—negative self‑appraisals like feeling beaten or defined by pain—matters. That feeling that "pain has taken over" can shape daily pain experience and even worsen suffering, our new study published in PAIN suggests. #ChronicPain #PainPsychology 🧪(1/2) journals.lww.com/pain/abstrac...

Brilliant presentations by @raphaelatf.bsky.social & @katiecunneen.bsky.social at the @warwickpsych.bsky.social PGR research day! Seeing that growth in research aptitude and independence is incredibly rewarding! 🧪🤩
Temporal network showing increases in mental defeat predicted subsequent increases in attention to pain and perceived pain impacts on self, relationships, and future. In turn, perceived pain impacts on routine and future predicted lower physical activity engagement. 🧪
