But Iran are saying that explosions have been heard in Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz again in the last hour.
I am trying to see if anyone else is reporting this or confirming it - no statement I can find from CENTCOM on it.
This is right now in the Strait of Hormuz.
So a fast-boat attack in B ab al-Mandeb and now an unexplained fire in Hormuz.
Seafarers are in extreme danger still, with little sign of relief.
These are peaceful people, at work. They deserve more from the UN and IMO to protect them!!

I have no idea what to make of this.
On the one hand, it is an abhorrent statement, threatening an entire country and more evidence of Trump being a thin-skinned, tantrum-throwing toddler.
On the other hand, it could just be more bluster and nonsense.
One man is holding the world hostage.

The Western Front in Lebanon is still an active conflict zone - with strikes both ways occurring overnight and this morning.
If this continues - I can only see escalation and Houthi involvement to widen the conflict.
This is not “business as expected”

Framing it as “regular business” means that we are in danger of this becoming the new normal.
A closed strait, high military presence and strikes on both sides perpetuating fear and stalling the peace process.
It does however show the difference between the two paths I set out.

In the wake of the helicopter strike last night, there has been back and forth strikes overnight in the Iran / USA front.
Trump reposted the Admiral Fitzwallace “proportional response” scene from The West Wing - which is also the framing from most media outlets.
I think this is dangerous…

This may be an isolated incident.
But the indications from the Houthis and Iran is that they will continue to ramp-up activity if there is no meaningful ceasefire in Lebanon.
If this continues - this will be the opening of a new front for the USA to deal with as it affects shipping and trade.

Something I have been waiting for from the UKMTO - Highlighted in the orange circle I added is the site of a suspected attack just North of the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
This is not an area associated with Somali pirate influence - so most likely Houthi activity.
