To court female patronage, the National is giving away a silver-plated spoon to every woman in attendance, a promotion they’ve been running for weeks.
Early on, movie access depended on where you lived. Seattle had many theatres showing films. But in a rural area you might see pictures only once or twice a year, when a traveling show came to town.

It’s June 5, 1926, and the Empire Theatre in Anacortes, WA is showing “The Man in the Saddle,” starring Hoot Gibson. Gibson's the star, of course, but Fay Wray (“King Kong”) plays his love interest, while Janet Gaynor (“Sunrise”) and Boris Karloff (“Frankenstein”) appear as uncredited extras.
