The #Stargate situation is reminding me of Netflix’s #AvatarTheLastAirbender.
How they did it w/out the OG creators & we got an honest attempt that stripped down the original’s spirit.
As the article suggested, would Amazon do a Stargate w/out original showrunners? Can they?
I feel like I would've liked S1 of the live-action #AvatarTheLastAirbender series a lot more if I'd never seen the original animated series.
Some of the changes do improve the tension & pacing, but changes to key characters & moments feel baffling given the existing blueprint.
I realize in this era of IP and rebooting stuff, that eventually there will be another iteration of #Stargate. I hate that we have to wait another 10 years before there's any movement on it.
But at least there's hope, that some day...? Does that help ease the pain of the new series' cancellation?
So I have a LOT of issues with the live-action #AvatarTheLastAirbender from #Netflix.
But my mind’s still blown at the cast of these AWESOME asian veteran actors together! It’s one of the greatest things the show has done so far.
🤩🤩
Horror isn’t my genre, so I remember liking #Scream6. Enjoyed the requel in #Scream(5) too.
But rewatching 6 before 7, and there are definitely some issues. So many plot beats are just rinse & repeat. Which was expected in 5, but weird to do in a new sequel in a new franchise.
So my world history is pretty terrible, but-- the opening scene of S1 of Netflix's live-action #AvatarTheLastAirbender series, with a soldier dramatically sending word out of impending attack--
Is it meant to parallel the whole Paul Revere, "The British are coming", incident?

In either version of #AvatarTheLastAirbender, the animated original or #Netflix live-action, the Prince Zuko origin episodes remain some of the best of their respective seasons.
Of all the things the live-action changed, it’s weird how the spirit of *that* subplot stayed true.

There’s a moment in S1E1 of Netflix’s #AvatarTheLastAirbender when, after finding out about his otherworldly destiny, reluctant Aang asks his surrogate father/mentor why he can’t just keep pretending to be his friend.
It always reminds me of this similar scene in #ManOfSteel. 🥲
