Great question! I‘m an extreme discovery writer, and I guess I get a vague concept or brief scene and build from there. At some point, I have to reverse outline. Usually I have some lynchpins that have to remain, but the final work might not actually include the initial idea. #PretendPanel
on that note does anyone know any good tricks that might limit your chances of having stress dreams? im kind of afraid to go to sleep later. I have very vivid, wild dreams that are very intense.
I promise I won't be jealous. Even if you have a cabin beside the Vanderbilts and you marry into their riches, I'll try to be happy for you. #TimeTravelAuthors

Rocky is definitely the most irreverent. 🏅 His first appearance in the book is him laughing at everyone he tricked. He once says to Liam: "You look fine, princess." Liam thinks mild mockery is his love language, and he has a point. (But he can step up when he needs to.)

I wrote at length about the process for Titanic Voyage at juliebihn.com/how-much-edi... My first drafts are ROUGH.
For Immigrants' Journey, I didn't know the POV characters at first! I cut things that aren't right for the characters or for word count. I add where the story needs it. #PretendPanel
Non-humans? My Historytown works mention a dog. Immigrants' Journey has a large toy truck with robot arms. (Paradox Evasion Remote Control Equipment, pronounced "Percy.") #HistorytownAZ #TimeTravelAuthors

Welp I looked back at the first draft for Immigrants' Journey and the very first chapter is Rocky spoiling the reveal that comes ~3/4 through the book. Thanks, Rocky.
This is a touch later and not REALLY a spoiler. Not in the final book (and he's actually 15), but he has a point. #HistorytownAZ
I finally finished this today… Lady Elizabeth Hartweald! Height relative to Alexander and Blackthorne.
I have a pretty good handle on how to cartoonify menswear of the time, but women's fashions I find more challenging, so this was good practice wrangling the silhouette!
Titanic Voyage will break your heart, then mend it.
When Liam first meets Clara, he thinks she's a rulebreaking tourist who snuck onto the set of the Titanic ride. Once he discovers she's an heroic passenger, he wants to save her, whatever the cost.

June 12th: by @vampireantihero.com: How do you approach your ideas? Do you start grand and sweeping, or do you start with small, intricate details? Do you plan before drafting, or do you reverse-outline and refine?

Questions from #pretendpanel
June 13th: by @hopeengel.com: On my author interviews I like to learn about things authors cut from earlier drafts and why, things they added in after that and why. I want to know how “rough” everyone’s first draft is!

Hoping I feel better tomorrow, but if I'm absent / low spoons for a bit, pls don't hold it against me. I don't think this situation is over yet. Even now that many hours have passed, I still feel like I need to be in fight/flight mode. It's been that way for 3 days.
