If you’re not a tech person, Axios is not a reference to the news outlet, it’s the name of a widely used programmatic http client. A lot of node-based software uses it for the very fundamental purpose of connecting to the internet.
Again I understand why they wanted to do this, but this is such an own goal. They now have to spend days doing unnecessary damage control, because the user base has made its views on AI known.
If they really want it, let someone else build this instead. The protocol is open! Plausible deniability!
