Deacon has the best kind of career for an indie dude: He gets to soundtrack both weird art movies, Netflix originals, and the occasional blockbuster (he did one of the Venom movies), plus he still tours frequently. He’s come a long way from Wham City, in a good way.

If a massive digital company was being broken into parts Penske Media is probably one of the companies you’d want acquiring it. Whatever your opinion of Variety and Deadline, they have a track record of doing it well.

Usenet had a real sense of mystery to it in 1995/1996. Something Awful forums were good, too. But for all the things that mattered (strong friendships, career opportunities) … the Visual Editors forums for news designers circa 2005-2009. The tech was rough. The conversations ran deep.
