Interested in dopamine regulation? Don’t forget the astrocytes! We’re excited to share our new preprint on astrocyte-dopamine interactions in the dorsal striatum and behavioral state transitions. @biorxiv_neursci, @mcgovernmit, @AnnMGraybiel biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
The intrinsic organization underlying the central cognitive role of the prefrontal cortex (PFC) is p
Lazaridis et al. delineate a previously unrecognized pair of striosomal direct D1 and indirect D2 circuits that target substantia nigra dopamine-containing neurons, controllers of mood, action, and reinforcement learning. These striosomal circuits have effects opposing those of the canonical D1-direct/D2-indirect pathways, likely modulating them.

(first post in this platform) happy to share our new paper on visual-based center-surround interactions in the superior colliculus, showcasing a general approach to dissect local circuit computations. @NeuroAlc
#Visual #salience generation involves center-surround dynamics, but what performs these computations? This study shows that the #SuperiorColliculus encodes center-surround dynamics under isolated conditions, and provides insights into the circuit implementation @plosbiology.org 🧪 plos.io/4n7RpsA

The ‘go’ and ‘no-go’ pathways in the basal ganglia are not the only pathways that control movement, as a new study reveals two additional circuits that modulate dopamine and movement. By @claudia-lopez.bsky.social #neuroskyence www.thetransmitter.org/basal-gangli...
Can there be a “little brain” in the heart? This is one of the “out of the box” project that we performed as KizilLab and AmpatzisLab. Huge thanks to Andrea, Kostas and Caghan 🤘🏻 #zebrafish #heart #neuron Check this little brain of the heart: www.nature.com/articles/s41...
