The ABC article has a link for submitting corrections, so I used that to tell them it's an e-moto, not an e-bike. The @cbschicago.bsky.social article does not have such a feature, and they're apparently content with being wrong and conflating terms, which is leading to bad legislation.
Per this image from the CBS report, it does appear the victim was on a high-speed, no-pedal "e-moto," rather than an electric bicycle.

Another bike-related tragedy in the region: Per ABC, male driver, 63, fatally struck a man, 19, riding an riding an "e-bike" (possibly a high-speed "e-moto" electric moped) around 6:30 AM today at Belmont/George in Franklin Park. Driver stayed on scene.

Tragic news: A person shot a male Divvy bike rider, 27, early this morning in Grant Park. Initial CPD statement below. Police said the victim later died from his injury. As of 10 AM, a Police News Affairs spokesperson said they could not confirm other reports about the case.
