her profile said she loved cortados in heavy glasses. i never had a cortado before so i asked her out to her favorite coffee shop to have cortados. it was an excellent and very meaningful date. it didn’t work out because she experienced traumatic event days after we met.

a couple of years ago i went on a date with this girl to a queer coffee shop. i liked her because her hinge profile and as i found in real life her personality found delight in the small pleasures of life, very attuned to the quotidian beauties. she a was an artist of course!

no human being is “too much.” it is dehumanizing to reduce human needs to a matter of quantity of which certain amounts render one deserving of care and other amounts renders one expendable. drawing a line beyond which suffering becomes unintelligible to our notions of care is dehumanizing.
i firmly believe our relation and position vis-a-vis the distressed other should be one of radical compassion and understanding.
but i still come to this coffee shop and have a cortado in a heavy glass and think about her and hope she is happy and doing well :)) i think about her with sweet feelings. 😊

this moment right now is the first time i’ve ever been safe and not actively being mistreated or abused by anyone in my life.
