Anchors Away Brass Band is thrilled to be back at Providence Porchfest this year! Catch us this Saturday at 3:30 on 6th Street❣️
Half the population menstruates. But: one in four people struggle to purchase period products due to lack of income. This is called “Period Poverty”, and chances are, we all know someone who has experienced it. Huge thanks to Amenity Aid for always showing up in RI to help address this need.
#YIGBY sails unanimously through the Rhode Island Senate! The bill allows faith-based organizations to develop affordable housing on its land, part of our goal of developing reuses for the many emptying houses of worship across the state and creating more affordable places for people to live.
When someone is battling a threatening disease, getting their utilities shut off is wantonly cruel. It is unnecessary. Rhode Island used to lead the nation in protections for utility consumers, and Rep. Cruz and I have a bill to make that true again: www.bostonglobe.com/2026/05/08/m...
I’ve been working with @neighborswelcomeri.bsky.social and a bunch of wonderful fellow legislators and housing nerds across the country for the last six months on this bill, and I’m very proud that it was voted out of committee last night. Next stop: Senate floor! #housing #yigby

@meghankallman.bsky.social said 42 states make crash data available to the public showing federal law is not a barrier. “You can’t manage what you don’t measure and we need data like this to make better public policy about transit, pedestrian safety, investments." www.bostonglobe.com/2026/05/21/m...
BOOM! Benchmarking passes the Senate overwhelmingly! This a major step towards meeting our Act on Climate goals. Thanks to ECRI and the many environmental advocates who have made this a priority, and to my stellar colleague, @rebeccakislak.bsky.social , for stewarding it through the House.

So pleased to join @neighborswelcomeri.bsky.social earlier this week for the release of their new data on housing. Rhode Islanders want their leaders to create more housing. I’m very proud that two of my legislative proposals ranked within the top five things that our community would like to see!
I've been working on the Medical Aid in Dying bill for a number of years now, in the company of wonderful colleagues in the state and organizers across the country. It's a very tender, very important issue. Rep. Ajello and I here share our thinking: www.providencejournal.com/story/opinio...

The Seriously Ill Protection Plan would put physicians in charge of making a medical determination whether to pause payment, not the state, write R.I. lawmakers.

While an overhaul of the Access to Public Records Act appears doomed, advocates hope for passage of legislation providing public access to statewide crash data.

A Rhode Island bill, the Lila Manfield Sapinsley Compassionate Care Act, would allow terminally ill patients to end their lives, the authors say.
