On Saturday the drizzle cleared for a bright and hopeful Climate and Nature Fair organised by Tunbridge Wells CAN. 🌳
It was a pleasure to speak to so many passionate people about the impacts of community energy and grassroots advocacy.
On 16th September, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband, articulated the strategic priorities for Great British Energy.
We welcome several mentions of community energy, reaffirming Government support for local-led clean power.
“It is vital that we embrace community energy and bring local communities along with us as we transition away from fossil fuels.”

In response, Ed Miliband said, “Great British Energy is going to partner with local communities to deliver community energy up and down the country,” ... “I want to assure her that we are going through the different barriers in granular, nerdy detail to see how we can break them down.”
Our thanks to Sir Jeremy Wright MP, for asking a fantastic question in the House of Commons on 15 July, enquiring into the Government’s plans to enable community-led energy groups to sell power locally.
The Minister’s response was clear. The Government is committed to making this a reality.
