Okay, there's a really cool reason for these groupings, based on evolution.

So my cousin dropped out of college to start a nonprofit that helped create community spaces. They'd take vacant lots, turn them into community gardens, and do programming for kids that made it into free childcare for the neighborhood (along with doing nutrition & gardening education for the kids).
