Atrocious numbers last night, still #teamMoth 40/18 but one of those was my first daytime garden sighting of Scarlett O'Tigger
The T. vulgella is 199th species of 2026 for me. Hoping for a few more NFGs when the weather turns for the better in coming days (Painted Lady irruption started three weeks ago, and they know)
Some of the arrivals from last week #teamMoth
Fan-foot, Broad-barred White, Grey Pine Carpet
Small patch of wild that sits between a farm and one of our local young woodlands has had Marbled White for a few years now. Numbers were in double figures there yesterday for the species #UKbutterflies
Didn't get a great shot of the first Golden Variegated Tortrix of the year...just a record shot
Another less than showy showing from #teamMoth last night, but there were a couple of NFYs for me in 12C Cambs - Grey Pine Carpet and Teleiodes vulgella.
And, there was a Peppered, always nice to see. I had a peppered shirt once...near-perfect camo for those moths
If I remember rightly, the shirt was pure black and white, but the moths have a bit of a yellowish tinge, so I made the photos monochrome just for effect
Does anyone else get that Xmas morning feeling of childhood whenever there's an EHM in the trap? And, even more so if there's a Small EHM too? #teamMoth
The Small EHM was 200th species of the year in our garden
Numbers are still low here in Cambs, hopefully the weather is about to change, the Painted Ladies irrupted a fortnight ago, so should happen in the next few days #TheyKnow #teamMoth
