Have some actual work to do now but thing to keep an eye on here is what this means for the roll-out of age verification - will this be mandatory for all UK internet users who want to use social media/gaming/live streaming and what (if any) are the exceptions?
Actually, no, I'm not finished: in over a decade of research I have seen how online spaces are places where friendships form and lives are built and sometimes saved. Cutting it off on a whim removes a valuable resource for people who face awful things in real life.
Regulating children is not the same thing as regulating social media platforms. Seems very important to distinguish between the two. However, social media platforms tend to be run by powerful billionaires, so easier to go after the kids instead.
