need to go back and read the manga since the remaining chapters will likely never get adapted, but the lightness and smooth segue out of the climax in this finale fit with the general concept of the show so well, that these individual moments wash over us and fade even as they shape us
though I would argue the best of those games know that and instead focus on tricking the player into thinking certain solutions don't exist (which is generally an aesthetic topic)
I think the big limiter here is puzzle-wise (ignoring narrative/aesthetic puzzles) is that a lot of np- or pspace-complete puzzle games (sokoban, sudoku, picross, etc.) have randomized puzzles but the solutions inherently don't evolve beyond brute-force at a root level
rare to see a coming of age story (well, at least in anime/manga) that also clearly shows the adult perspective, especially contradictory ones, where there's an admission that the big questions of teenhood often have no satisfactory answers
yep, the heuristics you develop are still just extrapolated brute force, but the time limit is a good reminder that you need to use them (although most people are gonna fall into them anyway bcs full-board brute force is very hard to mentally work through)
by randomized puzzles here I mean "games that feature a random puzzle mode"
I'm like half-and-half on the stuff released so far (the earl one that dropped today was sorta whatever) but the good half is all home runs
just finished ikoku nikki 😠feel like I won't watch something that tops that for a long time... have no idea if I'll watch anything this season
desperately waiting for the current dnb/jungle/breaks vgm wave to fall off so that we can finally start getting plugg/rage osts
