Out today in @cp-molcell.bsky.social! We show that proximal polyadenylation site (pPAS) within MRE11 sustains its transcription through promoter–PAS chromatin looping. Congratulations to first author Kaimeng Huang, all co-authors and collaborators. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

MRE11 proximal polyadenylation site-mediated looping impacts transcription and genomic stability
Excited to share that Michelle Swift has been selected as an OCRA grantee! This support will help us study mechanisms of PARP inhibitor resistance in ovarian cancer and identify new therapeutic opportunities. ocrahope.org/research/cur...
We are looking for a candidate with hands-on experience in NGS to drive workflows in fundamental genome stability research and clinical genomics. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge sequencing projects both within our lab and in collaboration with clinical teams across DFCI.
inally, we demonstrate that PAS‑mediated promoter looping broadly regulates DDR gene expression and genome stability, expanding the conceptual framework for how DDR factors are controlled.
Deletion of the MRE11 pPAS reduces MRN complex abundance and phenocopies hypomorphic MRE11 defects. We further find that loss of the pPAS triggers ectopic DNA replication and confluence‑induced cell death, revealing non‑canonical, non‑DDR functions linked to MRE11.

1. A new @cp-molcell.bsky.social paper from @chowdhurylab.bsky.social that shows proximal polyadenylation site (pPAS) within MRE11 sustains its transcription through promoter–PAS chromatin looping. ACS supported this work through Dr. Ke Cong's postdoc fellowship. doi.org/10.1016/j.mo...
