The totlalslighting of Sudeley Castle during the English Civil War seems now to have been either some wishful thinking or some people not being completely honest....
As so often is the case, what happened on the ground with slighting didn't always match the orders #CastleSlighting
Following 2 sieges of Sudeley Castle in the Civil War it was ordered to be slighted. Depositions by 5 craftsmen, signed off by 2 judges, stated that it had been destroyed. Our colleagues are desperately trying to protect their cultural heritage and archaeology, and yet many of our organisations here in the West can barely even muster enough courage for a performance of solidarity with them.
For shame.
I've been getting reports of a person reaching out to academics with an offer to edit or create Wikipedia pages for them. In one case, they already had one (right so), the other didn't and doesn't make the case for one.
