Listening to a podcast: hosts STILL adamant that increasing tax for the rich would cut economic growth. On the contrary. It's all about income and wealth inequality. Much better for the economy if the less well off have more to spend. Why is this still a debate? www.lse.ac.uk/news/latest-...
Enough is enough. When politicians use hateful language, they create conditions for hatred to grow. This is the Reform party I warned about, and they should be ashamed for inciting racial division in Scotland. I will always stand up for the inclusive country we are. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This is not hugely ambitious - but you can't tell that because the current % isn't quoted. Apparently 45% already travel to school by walking, cycle, or scooter in England (49% in Scotland). About 20% use public transport. In some places like Edinburgh it was already more than 60% back in 2022.

Major reforms reducing taxes on the rich lead to higher income inequality but do not have any significant effect on economic growth, says new LSE research.
Keeping tax low for rich does not boost economy
Something I just learned (as opposed to in England), Scotland's canal network is publicly owned as well. www.scottishcanals.co.uk/about-us

Labour pursues Palestine Action demonstrators as terrorists, but refuses to pursue the public figureheads from a Farage's Reform who incite racist attacks. I'm sure I'm not the only one spotting this blatant hypocrisy from the British government.

On the BBC World Service a few minutes ago, I heard a report of the Belfast race riots and heard nobody refer to “legitimate concerns“. Why do those listening to the BBC’s domestic output suffer such poorly unbalanced political reporting?

About us
I shall watch this with interest. There's no way to get 60% of kids actively travelling to school without disrupting current patterns of car-based mobility. This includes making all urban streets safer, not just those right outside schools www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
