also a huge shout out to @jessdawn.bsky.social for shouting out my own Basking In Glory, which didn't ultimately land in Short Story, Long, but instead in @doricliterary.bsky.social ! doric-literary.com/2026/03/01/b...
I truly believe that if you want to write AND submit creative writing, you should make a point to read for a lit mag. It is illuminating, sometimes reassuring, sometimes damning. To get to do this alongside Burch, a lit mag vet, must be such a special experience. So thankful for these readers!
Our swansong zine is now available to preorder (digital editions can be downloaded instantly) Subscriber and preorder issues will be posted out over the coming weeks. Copies from £3 www.ellipsiszine.com/fourteen/

At the booths, I’m unable to decide whether to enter II or III. I wonder if there is an expectation as to which side of a glory hole belongs to the giver and which to the receiver. I wonder if it w…

A fun one on Short Story, Long today! I sent the team of readers a handful of questions to get something of a peek into their thoughts, reflections, likes, dislikes, surprises, etc. from reading submissions. Excited to share it! Hope some of y'all find it fun and interesting, too.

"He was drunk on Natty Lite all summer cheering on the zebras like they were his illegitimate kids he suddenly took an interest in the second they became famous." Brilliant work by @chelseastickle.bsky.social today in @havehashad.com!

Today on my Substack: "Teatro Tropea" - a flash fiction originally published in Firewords Magazine. The theme was PLACE. I thought of Tropea, where locals sing opera on their balconies in the evening. This story has never before appeared online. courtlandavenue.substack.com/p/teatro-tro...

so excited to get to welcome Chelsea Stickle back under the skulls, with this total banger "Christmas was coming and we were worried about the zebras out in the cold. The news updated us: one died in a snare trap and two were returned home." https://www.havehashad.com/hes5d
This all started when those loose zebras were frolicking across suburban Maryland. It was summer, and it seemed they might live out there for the rest of their lives. We imagined them dodging those…
